Portland, Maine —
VETRO, a provider of the market-leading, user-friendly cloud-native fiber management platform, today announced that it is expanding its UK and global presence with the hiring of Jonathan Shears as Head of UK Sales and Ollie Bell as Head of UK Solutions. These appointments are on the heels of VETRO hiring industry veteran Peter Pizzutillo as the Head of International and Partner Development.
“The UK is a key market for VETRO, and we are excited to expand our presence here,” said Will Mitchell, VETRO CEO. “We have an established track record of helping customers in the US and around the world, and with the skills and leadership of our expanded team, we are confident that we can continue to support UK operators to meet the growing demand for broadband.”
Shears is a professional geospatial scientist with over 20 years of experience in the industry. A former Army Survey trained GEOINT specialist, he has worked extensively in large B2B and public sector accounts providing complex and Cloud geospatial IT systems, GIS data and geospatial data quality management solutions. For his part, Bell brings over a decade of telecom engineering experience from roles in network design, deployment, and operations.
Meeting Needs Created by the UK Fibre Boom
The UK is currently experiencing a surge in fibre infrastructure expansion, driven by the government’s Gigabit Connectivity Programme. This initiative aims to provide gigabit broadband access to 85% of homes and businesses by 2025. In the highly competitive altnet market, the real challenge isn’t solely about building networks but also about effective marketing, making operational efficiency crucial for their sustainability.
VETRO’s purpose-built fibre management system is designed to address the challenges of the overbuild market. Its system of record provides a single, centralised view of all assets, making it easy to track, collaborate and manage down to a single splice of fibre. VETRO FiberMap is an open platform, built for ease of integration with third-party tools like customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, business and operations support (B/OSS) systems, and construction management software, making it easy to share information across the entire organisation. In this way, VETRO FiberMap is a system of record that should exist at the core of the service provider’s operation.
“VETRO’s fibre management system is a valuable tool for any operator in the UK looking to plan, design and optimise their network,” added Mitchell. “Our platform helps operators save significant time and money, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver better service to their customers.”
With an influx of new capital resulting in a large number of acquisitions of telecom firms, it is becoming increasingly important for investors to have a precise understanding of the status, availability and potential of operators’ network assets. To understand all of these components in context, altnets need a purpose-built system designed to digitise fibre network assets and provide a precise and reliable system of record. VETRO can help altnets to do this by providing a comprehensive view of all network assets in one single view.“We are well-positioned to help UK operators meet the challenges in a fast-growing fibre market,” Pizzutillo pointed out. “Our seasoned team and expanded presence in the UK will help to ensure that operators have the tools they need to succeed. We are dedicated to working with operators to build a more connected future for the UK.”
VETRO’s growing roster of customers in the UK includes Wessex, Giganet, and Glide, among others. The company is committed to helping UK operators meet the challenges of the fibre boom. The company’s expanded presence in the UK will help ensure that operators have the tools they need to succeed.
