FIBERIZE MARS: VETRO Completes First-Ever Fiber Network Pilot on Mars
PORTLAND, ME – April 1, 2025 – VETRO, the leading provider of fiber management software, today announced the successful completion of a groundbreaking fiber network pilot on Mars in collaboration with RedNet, a next-generation fiber infrastructure company backed by Redstone, the red planet’s largest alternative asset manager, with over ₮1.5 trillion Martian quadribit ($1 trillion USD) in assets under management. The pilot marks the first successful deployment of Fiber-to-the-Colony (FTTC) connectivity, ushering in a new era of high-speed extraterrestrial infrastructure.
While on diplomatic visits to Earth in Q4 2024, Martian leadership toured several broadband deployments and discovered that nearly 350 companies were using VETRO to design, build, and manage networks. Inspired by Earth’s approach – and eager to move beyond their own legacy systems – they returned to Mars with a vision to modernize.
Historically reliant on copper-based infrastructure and homegrown network management systems built on Google Earth and Microsoft Excel, the Martians partnered with RedNet to launch a first-of-its-kind FTTC pilot. With VETRO providing the scalable system of record they needed, the network was fully digitized, optimized, and operationalized from day one.
The buildout was completed in just one fiscal quarter, the fastest planetary-scale deployment on record – thanks to VETRO. Today, the network delivers high-speed connectivity to settlements, research hubs, and transit links, including support for low-orbit handoffs and Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs).

“Bringing modern infrastructure to entirely new worlds is exactly the kind of bold use case we built VETRO for,” said Will Mitchell, CEO of VETRO. “This project pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in network design and proves that intelligent fiber management has a role to play in every frontier – Earth, Mars, and beyond.”
Will Cooper, Head of Strategic Initiatives at VETRO, added: “This is a highly strategic effort – not just for VETRO, but for the future of connectivity across space-faring civilizations. It unlocks a whole galaxy of opportunity for our customers as they plan, build, and manage next-generation networks on and off this planet.”
In a statement broadcast from Valles Marineris, a Martian representative noted:

[English Translation: “We’ve always considered ourselves lightyears ahead of earthlings technologically, but we were starstruck by their intelligent networks, powered by VETRO. Now we’re proud to be building the fastest networks in the solar system.”]
With initial results exceeding expectations, Martian leadership has committed ₮100 billion Martian quadribit in stimulus funding under the newly passed Mars Infrastructure Acceleration Act (MIAA) to support full-fiber buildout across the planet by EOY 2025. VETRO is now opening limited availability for additional pilot projects with qualified interplanetary first movers.

While Mars has the raw elements for fiber, producing it at scale requires advanced processing – including ultra-pure silica, doping agents like germanium, and extreme heat in highly controlled environments. Copper, on the other hand, is more abundant and easier to work with, which is why legacy Martian networks were built on it. For now, fiber is shipped from Earth – duty-free, thanks to the recently signed Mars–U.S. Free Trade Agreement – and VETRO ensures every strand is mapped, optimized, and monetized.
